Icom IC-M330G Review — Compact Fixed-Mount VHF With Built-in GPS
The IC-M330G is Icom's ultra-compact 25-watt fixed-mount VHF with Class D DSC and a built-in GPS receiver. It is the radio to look at when dash space is the constraint and you still want distress calling with position.

Compact does not mean toy
This is a research-synthesis review based on Icom America’s IC-M330 / IC-M330G product page and a live Amazon listing for the black GPS model (ASIN B09BBXRYND). We have not installed this radio on a Cast & Cruise boat.
The GX1400G already covers the “first serious fixed-mount” slot. The M330G exists for a different constraint: a dash that will not take a full-size face. Icom lists 6.2 × 2.6 × 3.5 inches and a 25-watt transmitter. That is still a real marine radio.
What Icom puts in the G model
Class D DSC with a dedicated channel 70 receiver is the safety feature that matters. The G version adds a built-in GPS receiver using GPS, GLONASS, and SBAS, plus a supplied GPS antenna. Icom also lists IPX7, AquaQuake, NMEA in/out, weather alert, and the HM-235 microphone.
The Amazon listing we checked is the black IC-M330G. White exists as a separate ASIN. The non-GPS M330 is cheaper and easier to grab by mistake.
Where it stops short
NMEA 0183 is not NMEA 2000. If the helm is already a plotter network, confirm how you want GPS to flow before you buy the compact radio as a standalone box. And no compact radio forgives a junk antenna.
Who should buy it
- Buy it if: the dash is tight and you want Icom DSC with GPS in the box.
- Buy the GX1400G instead if: you want a larger, simpler Eclipse-series face and already compared those two on our compare page.
Program the MMSI before the first trip. A compact radio that is not registered is just a small speaker.

Bottom line
If the GX1400G is the easy Eclipse-series starting point, the M330G is the tight-install Icom. Confirm you are buying the G model with GPS, not the M330 without it.
